Job Description

 

Overall purpose of the role

  • Responsible for leading the day to day activities of the Irish Finance team (both internal and outsourced) in the areas of General and Revenue Accounting, Inter-company Transactions, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets and Payroll
  • Responsible for the accounting service for several legal and reporting entities including the production of the annual statutory accounts to appropriate accounting standards, the reporting of corporate results in US GAAP and assisting corporate finance with tax and treasury matters.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Leads the General Accounting, Revenue Accounting, Accounts Payable, Credit Decision and Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions, ensuring the control environment reflects corporate policies and is compliant with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
  • Reviews and as appropriate implements and/or introduces financial controls to ensure the integrity of financial records. 
  • Leads the Inter-company recharges process, ensuring that all transactions adhere to the documented process and comply with corporate policies
  • Provide oversight on the Revenue Recognition process ensuring all deals are fully reviewed, comply with US GAAP and are concurred with the Corporate Finance team ahead of Quarterly deadlines.
  • Accountable for all Irish entities local chart of accounts and the timely availability of these in appropriate systems and management reports
  • Ensures statutory accounts and any other returns are filed by legal deadlines, working with the Tax team as necessary.
  • Through process reviews ensures that country finance and business associates adhere to D&B Corporate policies and procedures, including recommending amendments or appropriate new policies
  • Maintains, formulates, updates and administers accounting practices in fields such as financial reporting, management accounting, cost accounting, banking and cashing, credit and collection, payroll administration and internal budgeting
  • Reviews work practices/methods to ensure financial recording is cost effective and efficient without compromising integrity
  • Regularly reviews regulations and implements changes to working practices and procedures accordingly.
  • Owns specific key SOX controls and through others in the team ensures compliance with SOX controls and process flows. Regularly reviews documentation suggesting changes as necessary.
  • Through supervision of team, ensures that all payroll, corporate tax and VAT are reported and paid to relevant authorities within the timetables prescribed.
  • To enable operating income targets to be achieved provides financial support for relevant functional and finance leaders by working to understand their requirements; ensuring base financial records are correct and accessible in appropriate systems and management reports in a timely manner.
  • Liaises with internal and external auditors including planning of quarterly, year end, SOX and statutory audits
  • Liaises with Corporate tax as necessary supporting their completion of tax forecasts, tax entries in the accounts and payment of Corporation Tax due
  • Actively develops and motivates team members to be dynamic, agile and customer focused, building strong business partnerships with other internal functions. Ensures that all team members are appropriately coached and trained in order to leverage talent throughout the organisation

 

Essential Requirements 

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • 10+ years experience in Finance and Accounting within a multinational environment with at least 3 years at Financial Control level
  • An excellent working knowledge of UK and US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley compliance requirements is essential
  • Proven business and commercial skills and previous experience within a similar sector (Financial Services / Software R&D) will be well regarded
  • Strong financial systems skills including Oracle, Hyperion and IBIS
  • Strong communication skills are essential and must have a proven track record of representing finance at a senior leadership level with confidence
  • Ability to manage workloads to strict reporting deadlines together with a proactive, analytical approach
  • Strong management skills. Ability to create a team environment where integrity, trust, diversity, quality and efficiency are highly valued
